Kathleen King, Joined the Sisters of Mercy, and after taking her vows,devoted her life as a Nun. She traveled to America,to help emigrants, but while involved with her relief work she contracted tuberculosis. Her father Micheal encouraged her to return to Ireland.The air was more fresher and cleaner than the cities of America. Micheal hoped her respiratory problems would improve, but sadly Kathleen died aged 20.

With the outbreak of World War One. Bernard traveled to Glasgow, Scotland and joined the Royal Irish Guards. At the time of his enrollment the Guards had a Calvary Unit and Bernard was given a Horse, which he named Tommy!
Michael King died at 169 Newlodge Rd. His Son Johnny King was present at his Death.
